The wider roads of the new city of Bhopal and the narrow lanes (or the so called gullies in local language) provide an excellent mix of old and new form of the same kind of city. A huge chunk of rich inhabitants in new Bhopal plus the fast growing development of the new city of Bhopal, when compared to the poor set of inhabitants and the under - developed old city of Bhopal, will give you the right mix of how modern day technology and culture is overtaking our older beliefs which are actually our roots.
An excellent mix of Muslim and Hindu population is living happily in the city of Bhopal. Numerous mosques, which reflect the touches of Mughals, and many temples, which reflect the touch of Historical Hindu culture, are a sight to behold in the city of Bhopal. Some of the must visit mosques of Bhopal are: Moti Masjid, Taj-ul-Masajid, Idgah, and Jama Masjid. Taj-ul-Masajid happens to be the largest Mosque of India.
Bhopal is famous for the number of lakes which are located in and around the city. To start with one can visit the Upper Lake (which is famous by the name of Bada Talab amongst the locals). This Upper Lake is famous for the beautiful atmosphere which surrounds the lakes. Around the area of Upper Lake one will easily find many wild animals as that area has been purposely created by the local government with the aim of making it an animal conservation area.
Lower Lake (famous by the name of Chota Talab amongst the local inhabitants) was built by the Mughals. Both these lakes, Upper Lake and Lower Lake, are connected to each other by a bridge.
