Besides there are lot of coffee shops, bars, hotels and restaurants, which cater to the different taste buds of the people with a variety of cuisines that serve the best South Indian delicacies. Bangalore is the capital of the state of Karnataka which is one of the fastest growing cities in India. It offers a pleasant climate that attracts plenty of tourists every year to this place. Earlier, this place was often referred as “Garden City” owing to the presence of lovely parks and gardens.
This city was found by Kempegowda who was the main chief of the Vijaynagar Empire around the 16th century. Many ancient rulers like the famous Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan who was the King of Mysore along with the Britishers ruled here during different periods. Even today, major chunks of some areas are under the surveillance of the Indian military and defense forces which are not available for public viewing.
Lot of defense, aeronautical and telecommunication industries can be found here apart from a large number of IT and ITES industries.
Places of attraction in Bangalore
Bangalore is known for some of its best botanical gardens called Lalbaug which has beautiful old trees and lush foliage lined up with some exotic plant species. Of special interest are the Gulmohar trees which can be seen here. This place also has a Glass house where every year the annual flower show is held and ideal for plant lovers.
Cubbon Park is another fascinating garden which covers an area of almost 300 acres that attracts many tourists with its lush greenery and lovely flowering plants, shady trees, flower beds and its natural scenic beauty. Vidhan Soudha is a famous landmark of Bangalore which comprises of the legislative chamber of the State Government of India.
Bannergatta National Park is also one of the popular hot spots for the tourists for its exotic wildlife adventure. Tipu’s Summer Palace, Bull Temple, Visveswaraya Musuem and International Tech Park at Whitefield are some places worth visiting.
Shopping
Some of the best places to shop in Bangalore are Commercial Street, M.G. Road shops and Brigade road. There are plenty of malls and shopping centers that have recently sprung across areas like Jayanagar and Indiranagar where everything from fashion apparel, clothes, shoes among designer brands are easily available.
Cauvery Arts and Crafts Emporium on MG Road is one of the ideal places where one can find a variety of arts and handicraft items made of the best quality of sandalwood.
