The number of residents in Nyiregyhaza increased following the so-called War of Independence commanded by Prince Francis Rakoczi II. The Tirpaks from Bekescsaba were one of the groups that settled in town. With 7,500 residents, Nyiregyhaza became the largest town in the county during the 1780s because in 1786, the town was accorded the privilege to organize 4 market days in a year. read more
