Kecskemet Travel Guide, Hungary
Kecskemet is a nice Hungarian city in the south east of Hungary. It is linked to Budapest by a highway so getting there is easy by car but there is no airport.
The city is quiet and is widespread consisting more of houses than blocks of flats. Anyway most blocks do not have more than four floors.
Besides the many attractions around the residents and the visitors can enjoy a nice wellness center that lies near center of the city and next to the stadium called ”Elmenyfurdo es Csuszdapark”. You can park your car right next to it and you don’t have to pay for parking.
It is a very clean and full of opportunities spa. The grass is nicely cut everywhere; all types of flower decorations enhance the beauty of the place. The quality of the water is tested every day as it is its temperature. There is clear water were you can see the bottom of the swimming pool but also thermal water that has a brownish color.
Lifeguards sit at every pool to make sure nobody breaks the rules and ensure the safety of the people. Rules like no jumping, playing with the ball and splashing in certain pools, children should stay out of the swimming pools for adults and should wear a swimming suit are bound to be followed.
Still linked to the cleanness and security of the place is the fact that the quality of the food sold is checked every day so there are small chances to get food poisoning.
Because the spa is visited by lots of Germans signs have their German translation even at the entrance. The price you have to pay differs whether you are an adult, a retired senior or a child. Children under 2 do not have to pay. If you want to use the slides there is a separate charge. Renting sunbathing chairs is also possible. Many bring a kind of half tent to protect them from the sun, especially those who come with children.
The wellness centre does not lie on a large ground but it is well divided and there is space for everyone.
There are different swimming pools and you can choose the one you like or try each of them. There is a big swimming pool for swimmers and sometimes scuba diving lessons are given there. There is another swimming pool for adults that has real nice Jacuzzi in different parts of the swimming pool so you can get a pretty nice massage. They are on for about 15 minutes on one side and then while one side is shut another side is on with a different type of massage so you can give every part of your body a real refreshing massage. There is even a waterfall and you can sit right under it for a shoulder and back massage or behind it and watch the view.
A bit further on are 3 swimming pools with thermal water of different temperature. One has a temperature of 32-33, another one of 32-35 and the hottest one 35-37. You can choose the temperature you want or can stand. The water has excellent therapeutic properties for those who suffer from muscle aches and gynecology problems. I saw a whole football team coming early in the morning with their coach to benefit from this water.
There are two swimming pools for children one for very small ones and one for bigger ones with a nice slide. Children have a small park too where they can play after they get tired of being in the water.
The big slides are both children and adults’ favorite but only children older than 14 can go. There are 5 different slides of different difficulty.
If you feel like staying for more days and enjoy the center there is a nice camping next to it but there are plenty of hotels too.
You can consider Kecskemet ”Elmenyfurdo es Csuszdapark” as a nice getaway for a day or even more.

Cifrapalota, Kecskemet

If you happen to go to Kecskemét do not miss out the famous 'Cifrapalota' which will surely attract you with its beautiful folk-art-motifs. You can find this building in the center of the town.
