Nurnberg Travel Guide, Germany

Nurnberg is the largest city in Middle Franconia and is the second largest city in Bavaria. The city is rich in history, culture, art, and early technology. It is also known to be a fundamental city for science, humanism and mechanical invention. Nowadays, Nurnberg is also regarded as the City of toys and Christmas. There are a lot of modes of transportation that travel into Nurnberg so tourists can reach the city with ease. One way is by taking a flight that will arrive at the Nurnberg International Airport. The airport has 70 direct flights to over 20 countries.

Another way of reaching Nurnberg is by boat. Around 500 cruise ships come ashore the port of Nurnberg. Tourista can also arrive at the city by riding a train that connects it to national and international networks. Going around the city is also convenience because there are a lot of available public transportations such as buses, tram, trains and taxis.

Every Season, the city hosts various events from colorful festivals and open air concerts to markets and trade fairs. During spring, the highlight events are the Easter Market, Spring Funfair, and Blue Night. Easter Market or Ostermarkt, as the name implies, is observe every Easter on the Main Market Square. Different stalls selling pottery, wood, household goods, textiles, and books participate in this event.

The Spring Festival or the Frühlingsfest is the most colorful event during the Season. Loads of foods are served and many fun rides can be experienced in this affair. Another must see activity during spring is the Blue Night or Blaue Nacht wherein the cultural institutions such as museums and churches stay open until dawn for the people to visit. Different performances are seen on the streets, music is played on the air, and arts and lights are set up on the participating establishments.

Summer events are mostly characterized by music fairs such as Rock in the Park, Classic Open Air, and the Bardentreffen Singer-Songwriter Festival. Autumn events include Autumn Funfair and Old Town Festival which are both happening in September. The most awaited season of all is winter. This is the time of the year when the city is brightest and most magnificent. The city is famous for its Christkindlesmarkt or Christmas Market. Over 180 booths participate in this event which is opened by the Nurnberg Christmas Angel. Different Christmas merchandise such as the spicy gingerbread, mulled wine, decors and crafts, toys, and arts can be purchased. Side by side with this event is the Kinderweihnacht or the Children’s Christmas where there are various rides, performances and activities for everyone to enjoy. Nurnberg really lives up to its title as The City of Christmas.

    IF you are around at christmas, you should visit that chsitmas market at the city. It´s really famous and you can enjoy shopping, drinking a cup of hot wine or just relax and look at the scenery.
