Koln Nightlife, Germany
Koln, better known as Cologne, is famous not only for inventing the Eau de Cologne, but also for being one of the liveliest and most exciting cities in Germany. The inhabitants of Koln are extremely proud of their native city and they claim (and rightfully so), that it is the cultural and media centre of Germany. Add an immensely popular street festival to this mix, and you’ve got a vibrant city where the nightlife is not limited exclusively to the nocturnal hours. Taste some of the most delicious dishes in Germany, lounge in a cozy café or discover the extremely diverse club scene of this vibrant city near Bonn. This Koln Nightlife Guide will tell you all about the best spots in the city.
Koln Nightlife - Eating Out
There are many typical Rhineland dishes that can be sampled in Koln’s traditional pubs and restaurants. Some local filling and tasty delicacies include gouda cheese and rye bread sandwiches, fried black pudding with apple sauce and pig’s leg cooked in various ways. There is no shortage of eateries and breweries that serve food in addition to tap beer around the city centre. If you are looking for something upscale but still traditional, you should check out Landhaus Kuckuck, a pleasant restaurant with a good selection of German and international dishes. Like in any other large city, there are scores of fast-foods and restaurants serving Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Thai or Turkish food. For some healthy, French cuisine-inspired food, go to Fischers Weingenuss & Tafelfreuden. If you have a sweet tooth, you should pay a visit to Café Eigel, a confectionar’s established in 1851, where you can find every possible cake imaginable, plus a cup of delicious coffee to go with your confectionary of choice. Cafe Krempel offers the usual fare of coffee, tea and cakes, plus a nice selection of delicious breakfast foods.
Koln Nightlife - Bars and Clubs
There are several large, mainstream clubs catering to the masses in Koln. At Blue Lounge Party, Bodycheck Party and Funky Chicken Club play house and techno music, and they usually gather a large, loud and lively crowd. For some indie sounds, this Koln Nightlife Guide recommends Agenda Suicide Club. The venue moves quite often, but the patrons and the quality of the music and service stay the same. For a hardcore rock experience, check out Underground, a noisy but enjoyable club where live concerts are often held.
