Montpellier Nightlife, France
Like the other neighboring cities in France, students mostly dominate nightlife in Montpellier. Montpellier is considered as one of the cities in France that has an amazing nightlife. As the sun goes down, most of the tourists and students in Montpellier gather at the place Jean-Jaures, rue de Verdun,Rue des Ecoles Laiques, and Rue de la Loge. Musicians, jugglers, and mimes grace the night with carnival and fun-filled atmosphere.
For more formal presentations such as operas, symphonic presentations, dance recitals, and book plays, Le Corum is the place to go. Located in the Palais des Congres of Charles-de-Gaulle, Le Corum is the city’s most up-to-date theater.
For live concerts, the students usually gather at Rockstore. Rockstore exhibits 1950s rock memorabilia and a disco upstairs that offers rock and techno music. The Rockstore has five bars and clubs that can accommodate almost 1000 people in its largest club. Rockstore also offers world music aside from rock music.
Blues and Jazz music are the specialties of the JAM. The JAM also hosts some Jazz concerts in its smoky and noisy place. Concert tickets are sold at an average of 10-25€ or $13 to $20.
Located at the southern part of Montpellier is a convivial disco, Le Pacha. This is widely known to drinkers and dancers for its modern disco music. Le Pacha opens only from Thursdays to Saturdays and its 10-15€ charge includes a drink.
La Villa Rouge is the favorite hangout of gays and lesbians in the city. This is an animated disco and bar located at Route de Palavas in Lattes. This nightclub has three dance floors that can accommodate a maximum of 2,000 clubbers.
Most of the clubs and bars in Montpellier are situated along the place Jean-Jaures of the Old Town. Close to Jean-Jaures Square is the L’Antidote Café. This bar, in its artistic setting offers DJ played music on weekends.
La Pleine Lune is another bar that offers live band performances in a quieter environment. The Mix Koffee has a mix of techno and reggae music. Dancers can now enjoy the night more in the Mix Koffee’s larger dance floor that replaced its 50 square meter original location.
The warm nights in the city and its active nightlife make Montpellier a nice place to visit. Certified clubbers can surely have their place in Montpellier.
