 First up is the River Boat Jazz Festival which has an impressive reputation in all of Scandinavia. Established in the 1960s the River Boat Jazz Festival has become one of the benchmarks of music in the country. Here different types of jazz music are played for your auditory bliss.

The venues can vary from concert halls to cathedrals and probably the most fitting venues of all, the steamboat. Sail through the lakes of Silkeborg under the night sky as the sounds of New Orleans swing Dixieland big band and gospel serenade your night.   

Then there’s the SCC Country Music Festival. It is a gathering of music makers and fans of country music. Here you can square dance under the moonlight to the tunes of local and international country music artists. This festival will surely satisfy the staunchest of country music fans as it features songs and performances both from traditional and from modern country music.  

Get some action from the toes up in the Folk Dance Festival held every August. This festival gathers dance organizations from all over Central Jutland. For those who have tried folk dancing this is a welcomed reunion with the form. And for those who have never tried it? Well this is an opportunity to appreciate or even to get hooked to the dance.

 Probably the most delightful of all festivals is what people who have experienced it call a “Festival of Wonder”, Silkeborg’s international puppet festival. Each year it features a new theme such as “Myth Marionette and Man” and more. The festival has garnered praise and acclaim as it appeals to both children and adults for its impeccable artistic standards and colorful performances. Get lost in the world of puppets through live performances and puppet films. In Silkeberg’s “Festival of Wonder” the audience not only gets to marvel at what they see, they also get to have a hands-on experience in making and handling puppets. The festival brings with it exhibits and workshops for children and interested individuals.  

Nightlife is Silkeborg is far from the average ones you’d expect from a town in the 21st century. Sure, there are not a lot of discotheques bars and the like. In Silkeborg “nightlife” is as literal in meaning as it can get. Here in Silkeborg your nightlife belongs to the stars.
