San Pedro Nightlife, Costa Rica

San Pedro in Costa Rica has a great nightlife due to the University of Costa Rica which is located in San Pedro.  There are many students all around town so there is an active nightlife in this small town.  Whether you are looking for a crazy night out dancing and drinking or something a little more cool and laid back, San Pedro will have the destination that you are looking for.

San Pedro is famous for its Calle de Amargura or the street of bitterness.  This street is busy at all hours of the day but if you are looking for somewhere exciting to go at night, then you can surely find it on the Calle.  There are dozens of quiet bars as well as action packed bars with music and dancing.  It is a great place to go to relieve yourself of the daily stresses.  Since you are in Costa Rica, you should take advantage of Costa Ricas national beers Imperial and Pilson beers at one of the happening bars such as Congos, Caccios or UTerra.  The calle de Amargura is lined up with one bar after the other. You will also find that their prices cater to the students so you can have a long full night here on the calle without spending too much.  

Las Brujas is another bar and restaurant that is located just off of the Calle de Amargura near the train tracks.  Here you can sit and relax with a good meal and they often have live music from local musicians.  If you love live music, the best afterhours place to go is to the Jazz Cafe.  Here you will be able to listen to anything from jazz, reggae, and salsa to swing, rock and tromba.  Some local bands that play are Cantoamerica, Las Tortugas, Exodus (Grammy Winner) and Malpais which are all excellent bands.   One of the best reggae spots in all of Costa Rica is Roots which can be found off of the Autopista right before the Puente.  

San Pedro also has a variety of restaurants that you can go to.  They house foods from Spain, Peru, Colombia, Nicaragua, France, the United States, Italy and much more.  Whether you are in the mood for crepes or pasta, you can find it in San Pedro.  You will also find some of America's most loved restaurant chains such as TGIFs, McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Pizza Hut, Dominoes and Dennys.  If you are an ice cream aficionado then you should try one of the local ice cream chains like Pops.
