Xian is one of the oldest cities in China. While it had many names, Xian is known as one of the four great ancient capitals of China. Xian has been in existence for over 5,000 years. In the 1990's, Xian became part of the great economical revival in china. The city has become well know for not only being an important city for industry, education, and culture, but also for the Chinese space program.
With a population of over 8 million people, the city is experiencing a growing rate of over 600,000 people every five years. The city is made of roughly 52% male and 48% female population. Xian is divided into thirteen major districts. One of the major obstacles within the city is pedestrian walking areas.
There are numerous overpasses and underpasses, but still this is not enough for a population this size. Most residents prefer to use the subway, taxis, or the electric bikes that have become popular with many students.
With Xian being one of the oldest cities in China, there are many cultural attractions to take in. Xian has one of the oldest opera circuits in China. The many types of architectural sites are also a must see. There are many museums and monuments in Xian to explore and enjoy. However, Xian is also known as a haven for rock artists, hosting one of the largest underground musical venues.
While there is much culture to enjoy, there has also been a rise in technological offerings. Xian has one of the biggest Internet bars found in the world. It is home to over 3,000 computers. Xian also hosts many online gaming competitions that can be joined from anywhere in the world. If you prefer sports venues, Xian is home to three professional sports teams.
