Taiyuan Travel Guide, China
Taiyuan is the capital city for Shanxi province of China and as is the case with most of the cities of China, Taiyuan has more powers than any County while it has fewer authorities than the provinces. It comes below the province and above the county. Such a system is known as prefecture level and the city under such system is known as prefecture level city.
The River Fen cuts the city of Taiyuan into two parts namely and these two parts are connected to each other by a bridge. The two parts of the city are named as Qiaodong (which is the eastern part of the city) and Qiaoxi (which is the western part of the city). To make transportation between the two parts of the city easier the local government has built 5 different bridges namely the Yingze Bridge (the oldest which was built in 1954), the Shengli Bridge (built after this in year 1970), the Nanneihuan Bridge (built in 1988), the Yifen Bridge (built in 1990), and the Changfeng Bridge(built during the year 2001).
A highway which circles this city has proved to be very fruitful for the residents of the city. It has connected multiple parts of the city with each other directly via this ring road of the city. The airport of Taiyuan wasn’t that huge so that the famous and the mighty Airbus A380 could land on it hence recently it has been expanded so as to accommodate this huge aircraft. The government of Taiyuan is working hard to launch a high speed railway line which will connect the city of Taiyuan to the capital city, Beijing. Once constructed successfully, it will hardly take two and a half hours to travel between these two cities.
The city of Taiyuan is an important industrial center for the People’s Republic of China. The coal industry of Taiyuan City is famous on the national level. The steel company of Taiyuan namely Taiyuan Iron and Steel Company (or TISCO in short) happens to be the largest steel making company of Asia hence proving its importance. The major chunk of submarine missiles for the China Army is produced in this city of Taiyuan.
