Compared to the past, Taiyuan’s night life these days has become more exciting, colorful, and offers a lot of choices. People can either choose to go to the town’s squares, parks, bars, discos, or hotels to enjoy the night.

For Taiyuan local residents, they often visit either the city’s parks or squares to relax after a hard day’s work. Most people bring their loved ones to the Fenhe Scenic Area even during the night to enjoy its relaxing calm surroundings especially those who live near to it. This park, which is also considered as one of the new tourist spots, has won the China Model Residence Prize during the year 2001.

 If you are more interested in bringing your family to a place filled with entertainment and other similar activities, then you should take them to Nangong Sqaure. This is one of Taiyuan’s main squares in town that comes with a variety of shows and entertainment.

If you are a bit sleepy and you long for a dose of caffeine, you need not worry because Taiyuan has lots of coffee bars to offer that recently became the popular places in the city to relax. Some of the preferred coffee bars in the place would be the Xianggen coffee which is ideal for persons living near the Parkson Department store, the Manabe Coffee which is located in the middle of Changfeng Jie, and UBC coffee which is just around a hundred meters from the Huayu Shopping Mall.

If your idea of relaxation during the night would be watching a movie, then just go to either the Shanxi Theatre located in Liu Xiang or the Taiyuan Cinema near the Wuyi Square to watch the latest box office hit.

For those who belong to the younger generation, they will enjoy more if they visit the Chinatown Disco which is located near the Yingze Dajie intersection at 49 Bingzhou Bei Lu. This place boasts a fantastic interior design, brilliant lights including laser, modern music played by mostly western DJs, and it has a spacecraft as well as a huge bat seemingly flying on top of the dance floor.

Other discotheques and nightclubs are located around this place, the 49 Bingzhou. This is highly recommended by foreigners and locals alike and gets filled by large crowds at night especially during the weekends. For karaoke bars or pubs with different themes, you need to go to the main street called the Yingze dajie.

A night out experience in Taiyuan definitely gets you closer to the city’s culture, its past, its modernized present, or its nature.
