The city of Shijiazhuang is a prefecture level city for People’s Republic of China and the capital city for Province of Hebei. The city of Shijiazhuang wasn’t an important city for Hebei Province and for China for many years but recently, the Chinese government observed that the location of Shijiazhuang was suitable for transport and this is when the city of Shijiazhuang started to be recognized on the national level. The JingHan and ZhengTai railways were recently launched in the city of Shijiazhuang and slowly the dull city became an important transport hub for People’s Republic of China.
The economical importance of Shijiazhuang increased so quickly that it was called the capital city for the Province of Hebei. Lately, the city of Shijiazhuang has become the economic hub for Hebei Province. With time, the city of Shijiazhuang has become a center for all the pharmaceutical business of China and has many famous chemical industries too. The city of Shijiazhuang is also an important center for dairy products. The famous Sanlu Group has its headquarters in the city of Shijiazhuang itself. It was hit badly by the recent 2008 Milk Scandal of China and as a result, many top level officials were kicked out of the company.
The industrial growth has helped the city of Shijiazhuang touch 15th spot in terms of economically powerful cities when compared to 569 cities of China.
As pointed before the city of Shijiazhuang is rather young when compared to history and culture of China and hence on will hardly find any cultural hot spots in the city. Two important centers which reflect the cultures of China are Hebei Museum (which is famous for the collection of various manuscripts and sculptures) and Martyrs’ Memorial.
One can use air transport to fly directly to Shijiazhuang city from Hong Kong. Shijiazhuang is one of the largest railway line hubs for China and hence you can also opt for multiple trains which regularly leave Shijiazhuang or enter Shijiazhuang. From the capital of China, the city of Beijing, the city of Shijiazhuang is around 3 hours away.
