Chengdu is often referred to as China's party city. Boasting more tea houses and bars than Shanghai with only half the population, Chengdu has a growing night life. One major party location is along the river. This area offers at least thirty bars just opposite the river.
Most beer is served at room temperature. These bars offer a laid back environment, where friends gather to enjoy the evening and each other’s company. Most of these bars are quiet locations for socializing. If things get too exciting, you may find people headed across the street for a late night swim.
However, if you are looking for a night of loud music and busy dance floors, you may want to check out Jin Li Street. This area offers a wealth of bars, shops and attractions. At night, it can be a hot spot for tourists and locals both. You can meander through the streets enjoying the live bands and local dance clubs. There are many stands along the street that you can enjoy as well for shopping.
Another night life attraction in Chengdu is the opera. They have a technique of changing masks throughout the scenes. While videotaping and cameras are banned, don't worry this is an experience you won't soon forget. There are several local options. Some opera houses cater to foreigners and tourists. All performances are very high caliber and professionally produced. These opera are a must see if you are visiting Chengdu.
When you visit Chengdu you will find many night life attractions. Whether it's dancing, drinking, or cultural sites you are search of, you are sure to find many options. Chengdu offers a laid back culture of fun and an inviting atmosphere. You will find most locals friendly and inviting, offering an atmosphere of down home fun and friendly meeting places.
