Thunder Bay is a beautiful city situated in Ontario, Canada. It is a very densely populated city of Northwestern Ontario and has a population of about 122,907. It comprises of the Thunder Bay city, townships of the Shuniah Conmee, Gillies, O’Connor, municipalities of Neebing and Oliver Paipoonge along with Fort William First Nation.
The city got its name from the immense bay that is located at the head of the Lake Superior which is known as the “Baie du Tonnerre” on the French maps of the 18th century. In fact, this city is also known as Lakehead or the Canadian Lakehead owing to its location that is at the Great Lakes navigation end.
The city of Thunder Bay is about 32 kms away from the US/ Canadian border and draws visitors from all over the world. The tourists that hold their breaths at the sight of this place are charmed once they land here. The natural attractions of this place like the Sleeping Giant Rock Formation, the Kakabeka falls and incredible snowfalls are also very effective in attracting the tourists from all over the globe. The great winter falls here make alpine and Nordic skiing along with snowmobiling the most popular of the outdoor pastimes.
