Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada is one of the most beautiful and protected places along Lake Huron. In order to enjoy the most out of the place, there are some excellent sights available here.
The main tourist attraction of Thunder Bay is Fort William Historical Park which is a reconstruction of 1815’s Fort William fur trading post of North West Company. The marina of downtown Port Arthur also draws thousands of visitors every year for its presence of several water crafts and scenic view of the Sleeping Giant. Also included in the marina are harbor cruises, a playground, lake walk, a children’s museum and a Canadian/ Chinese restaurant
There are many amethyst small surface mines which also allow the visitors to look for their own gems and crystals. A 9 feet Terry Fox statue is also situated in the Terry Fox Memorial which is worth seeing. The Boulevard Lake Park is a big public park centered on Boulevard Lake. The best features of the park include kayaking, canoeing and other water sports, a playground, a sand beach, a tennis court, a concession area, picnic tables, changing rooms, washrooms and paddle boats.
The Canada Games Complex is the primary fitness facility of Thunder Bay and its main feature includes a swimming pool, a fitness testing area, indoor running tracks and indoor fitness areas.
Fort William Gardens is a multi-purpose area which has been home to Lakehead Thunderwolves ice hockey team.
The Thunder Bay Historical Museum displays a collection of regional interest objects such as pictures, furniture and dolls and the collection also includes one fire truck.
The Ouimet Canyon is a big gorge which is 100 m deep, 150 m wide and 2 km long. It is located in the Ouimet Canyon Provincial Park of North-western Ontario, which is about 60 kms north-east of Thunder Bay.
Kakabeka Falls is a waterfall located upon the Kaministiquia River and has been the second highest one in Ontario after Niagara Falls.
The Big Finn Hall or the Finlandia Club or the Finnish Labor Temple is a Canadian-Finnish cultural community centre housing the Hoito Restaurant, a dance floor, a museum, a large stage and a hall serving as a meeting room for several groups. With such a huge plethora of places to visit, see and enjoy in Thunder Bay, this place has been one of the areas that attracts the largest number of visitors in a year.
