Kapuskasing Trave Guide, ON Canada: A Must visit place for everyone
Kapuskasing, situated on the banks of the Kapuskasing River, is a town located in the district of Cochrane, Northern Ontario, Canada. The town has a population of 8,509 according to the 2006 census and was known by the name of MacPherson, till 1917. After 1917, the name of the town was changed, as it conflicted with a railway stoppage in the city of Manitoba. The town derived its name from the River Kapuskasing, which in turn got its name from the Kapuskasing Lake located in the south of the river.
Geography
The city of Kapuskasing is located in the heart of the famous Great Clay Belt. Kapuskasing also has the boreal forest of Canada and the topography of the area is flat and dotted having numerous muskeg bogs and small lakes. The area is heavily forested having thick stands of black spruce. It has a high commercial value of pulpwood.
Climate
Kapuskasing has an excellent climate throughout the year. The city has long and cold winters, whereas summers are short. There are many people, who love the deep blue sky and come to visit when there’s nice weather.
Safety
Kapuskasing has its own fire department, which is operated by the town administration. The fire department of the town is a member of the Fire Marshals located in Ontario and the public fire safety council. Kapuskasing also has a local branch of the important Ontario provincial police located nearly 1km east on Highway 11.
Transportation
The city of Kapuskasing has an excellent transportation system, as there are many facilities that can be used by people to move around the city. Since Kapuskasing is located between Thunder Bay and Temiskaming Shores and directly along the Highway 11, residents of the city can get easier transportation facilities with the help of frequent bus services. The city has also a paper mill and a pulp, which is served by Ontario Northland Railway. Kapuskasing also has an airport that serves as a refuelling stop for all the flights belonging to Trans Canada Airlines. The airport also enables the residents to fly in and out of their city very easily. If you are a visitor, you can reach the city either by plane, Ontario Northland Bus or by car.
In spite of the city being small, it guarantees safety and a wonderful transportation system.
