Buenos Aires Nightlife, Argentina

Fiesta Bubamara is laidback and extremely popular with welcoming locals and tourists.  It hosts live bands interspersed with DJ sets.  A healthy dose of gypsy electronica and Eastern European beats.

Cocoliche is billed as a great underground dance/soul club offering a variety of musicTuesdays is “breakbeat night”, Thursday is indie and weekends are for tech house and electro a go-go. Club Lost (aka) is in the heart of Buenos Aires, and hosts a selection of different music each night.  Thursday night is the only “real” Hip Hop night in Buenos Aires, attracting a good mix of foreigners and Argentineans.

Great Dining:

Brazillian, Moroccan, Japanese, Peruvian, Scandanavian, Argentinian … it’s all here!

Sarkis is one of those rare places which is always full, regardless of the day of the week, and serves some of the best and tastiest Armenian food, and best value middle eastern cuisine in Buenos Aires.

If you love Mediterranean food, try Oviedo for their authentic Spanish cuisine.  Situated in an elegant Barrio Norte not only is the food fantastic, but the décor makes diners feel transported to Spain.

More good restaurants are:Tiempo de Gitanos

El Desnivel

Romario

Circe Resto Bar

Bengal

Itamae Sushi

Empire Thai

Festivals:

Carneval is low-key, family oriented, with local communities forming groups (called “murgas”) with drums and dancers in long, spangly coats and homemade accessories.  Be on guard for children wielding spray cans of foam; squirting unsuspecting passers-by with sticky cream is all part of the fun!

Fans of Tango will love “World Tango championship” (around August) when the worlds’ best Tango dancers gather in Buenos Aires and compete for the ultimate accolade.

Other festivals:South American Music Conference

Creamfields (Big name DJs spinning music)

Argentinean Open Polo Tournament

Gualeguaychú Carnival (Floats, rides, entertainment)

Festival de la Luz (photography)
