York is a beatuful, lovely place in the middle of Yorkshire. Most people are going there only to see the famous Yorkminster Abbey, which is really fantastic and you must see if you'll visit York, but that city could give much more satisfaction. For example there is the a nice rivertrip on the Ouse, which is incredibly beautiful (and costs 7-8pounds) or the many nice original English bars and restaurants, I would recommand to try a few of them. York is a good place to go with childrens as well, thay got many playgrounds in every part of the city and also some wolkingtrips around the city (between 10-30 pounds per day).

Barley Hall was once the house of a very rich man in York. It dates way back to 1483. It was dug by the York Trust in the 1980s, much to the amazement of the archeologists. The house has been fully and naturally preserved.
