Its name comes from the mountain that is called Sella and Ronda which means circuit. It is a circuit around the mountains that takes you to different little villages like Selva di Val Gardena, Corvara, Canazei or Arabba.

The idea came from the ancestors that initiated it when there were only some mud tracks and no lifts. The circuit around this massif in the Dolomites seemed very useful as it was the only way to keep contact with other people in the area.

Since then it has developed into a kind of merry-go-round for skiers with a well developed set of ski-lifts and downhill runs that are all linked to deliver one of a kind experience that you won’t find just anywhere. The circuit is available for most skiers as it is not destined just for the advanced skiers, but you have to be of an intermediate level to do it and in pretty good shape. If you match all these requirements, next all you have to know is how to follow the route and be prepared for sudden changes in weather otherwise your lovely trip might end in a not so pleasant adventure!

As for how long it takes to do the circuit, well it depends on fast you are and on how much time you want to allow for admiring the views or stop at one of the refuges. Otherwise the time spent on the ski lifts adds up to about 2 hours. The distance you can cover is around 40 km including both ski-lifts and ski runs.

But there’s no one to rush you, so take your time, set your pace and begin an extraordinary adventure. This does not mean though that you can start any time and finish when you please as you have to take into consideration the lift schedule. Some good tips for you: if you are a first timer on the circuit start around 9 in the morning and try to reach the last pass by 15.30 if you don’t want to miss the last ski lift as it closes around 4-4.30 pm.

Tune those phat skis or board, get a good nights rest, have a healthy breakfast, put a smile on your face, and be prepared for one of the best snow days you've ever had!
