Leutkirch im Allgäu ist eine ehemalige Freie Reichsstadt im Südosten des Bundeslandes Baden-Württemberg. Im westlichen Allgäu zwischen Memmingen und Wangen im Allgäu an der A 96 gelegen, bildet die Stadt ein Mittelzentrum für die umliegenden Gemeinden. Leutkirch ist nach Einwohnerzahl hinter Ravensburg, Wangen und Weingarten die viertgrößte Stadt des Landkreises Ravensburg sowie nach seiner Fläche von 175 km² hinter Stuttgart, Baiersbronn, Bad Wurzach und Ehingen die fünftgrößte Gemeinde in Baden-Württemberg.

Leutkirch im Allgäu ist seit dem 1. Januar 1974 Große Kreisstadt. Mit seinen Nachbargemeinden Aichstetten und Aitrach hat die Stadt Leutkirch eine Verwaltungsgemeinschaft vereinbart
