Luxor is one of the oldest cities in the world, with over 7000 years old. It is situated on the border of the river Nil in the center of Egypt, in a fertile area, on the place of the huge capital of the New Empire, it is the city with 100 gates of Homer. The city has only 70 000 inhabitants, but it is Called the city of temples.
In this city we can see the Temple of Luxor, Temple of Amon from Karnak, wich is one of the main tourist attractions of this city, because its is very well preserved, the row of pillars of Amenhotep the third, the famous necropolis of Theba, Karnak temple this last monument hosts the largest group of historical monuments.
It is believed that construction began in the tenth dynasty. Called also the Dead's City, Luxor was always the place of funerals. In the King's Valle there were discovered till nou 64 graves, 18 of being opened for visitors.
