Victoria Falls (also famous by the name Mosi – oa – Tunya which means Smoke which Thunders) should not be mistaken for a city. It is actually a very famous waterfall situated on the Zambezi River in the southern part of Africa. Its exact location is between two countries namely Zimbabwe and Zambia. At one time you might get confused as to which country this waterfall belongs to. Officially Victoria Falls is part of Zimbabwe.
Victoria Falls has become very famous around the planet due to the huge wildlife which lives around it and due to its size; it is said to be the largest amongst all the waterfalls on this planet.

This waterfall has great lush green environment around it. The government of Zimbabwe has created two national parks around this fall. They take extreme care to maintain the beauty of this waterfall and its surroundings. Although the size of the two national parks isn’t that big, they are of huge importance. Victoria Falls National Park is around 23 square kilometers in size while Mosi – oa – Tunya National Park is around 66 square kilometers in size.
This fall is also famous for the 39 different species of fishes which reside below the fall and the 89 species of fishes which reside above it. The vegetation and Wildlife around the waterfall increases its economical importance.

Tourism has been a major contributor to the economy of Zimbabwe due to the presence of this huge waterfall within its boundaries. During the 1900s around 300000 tourists were visiting this huge waterfall every year. Estimates say that this number touches a million since the beginning of the 21st century.

The height of Victoria Falls is said to be around 108 meters while its width is around 1708 meters. The main annual flow rate for this fall is around 1000 cube meter per second which is actually very fast. The highest flow ever recorded was around 13000 cube meter per second.
