As soon as you come out of the current airport of Walla Walla you will get to see the complex of the old airport which now houses around 15 wineries. Hence, the moment you land in Walla Walla you will have over 15 wineries all ready for you to visit. One of the nearby winery is housed in a firehouse and hence it is called as Firehouse Red. This happens to be the best place to start your tour of Walla Walla and later on head towards the heart of the city.
Next comes the “in town wineries” which are all situated in a small area which seems like the old downtown of the city. One of the famous winery in this area is Morrison Winery where you will find the owner playing stand up bass whenever some tourists are forced to wait in order to get into the winery. Something unusual but true!
Towards the south eastern side of the city you’ll find the mansion district of Walla Walla which contains a huge number of mansions that were built during the times when the city was experiencing the gold rush. One of the best to visit is Chamber of Commerce which regularly organizes a walking tour that will introduce you to various mansions.
You must also visit the Museum of Walla Walla which actually is called a fort but it isn’t by any means a fort. It is a museum which exhibits the history which of Walla Walla.
