Virginia Museum of Transportation

The Virginia Museum of Transportation homes one of the biggest gathering of locomotives within Southeast. This unique museum is situated in the historic N&W Freight Station. It features more than 40 items of the rolling stock including steam and diesel locomotives in the rail storage area. This museum also exhibits cars, antique carriages, buses, trolleys and trucks in addition to interactive exhibits, aviation equipment and a huge gauge model train plan with four different view levels.

Mill Mountain Zoo

This zoo is located over the top of Roanoke’s Mill Mountain and displays about 55 species of birds, reptiles including the Siberian Tiger, Red Pandas, Snow Leopards, Bald Eagles, Japanese Macaques and mammals. Special educational programs and events are organized all through the year. The zoo has a wildflower garden and picnic facilities as well.

Centre in the Square

It is a marvellously resorted 20th century furnishing storehouse. This warehouse offers free room for seven self-regulating cultural organizations including the Arts Council of the Blue Ridge, the Art Museum of Western Virginia, Roanoke Ballet Theatre, the Science Museum of Western Virginia and Hopkins Planetarium, Opera Roanoke, the Mill Mountain Theatre and the History Museum of Western Virginia. Several exclusive programs and events take place here every year.

Countryside Golf Club

Explore excellent golf and great service when visiting this public 18-hole golf course. This golf curse further includes grass tee region, driving range, pro shop, chipping green and putting green.

Roanoke symphony Chorus and Orchestra

Established in 1953, the Roanoke symphony Chorus and Orchestra is the biggest professional orchestra in the entire Western Virginia. They present a subscribed season of eleven concerts in addition to five classics, three pops concert and three virtuosi. Besides, they perform two holiday pops and special presentations every year.

Another famous Roanoke’s attraction is the O. Winston Link Museum, as it boasts a huge assortment of O. Winston Link’s unusual prints, which cannot be found anywhere else in the world. The museum also incorporates an extensive exhibition of the N&W Railway work of art, interactive displays, masterful photography plus audio stations.
