Arlington Travel Guide, Virginia

Arlington can be found in the northern part of Virginia.  It is also regarded as a suburb of Washington, yet it still keeps hold of its own distinctiveness.  Arlington has an assortment of neighborhood.  You can find a stunning skyline on the northern part, shopping center on the southern part, and the rest is a homey environment.

Travel

Arlington is home to the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (RRWNA).  This airport serves a main center of US Airways.  Airlines such as American Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Continental, Delta and United arrive and depart in this airport.  When going to the heart of Arlington from RRWNA, travelers can choose to ride shuttle services provided by the airport, taxi, rented car, or the Metrorail system.

People can ride a bike when touring around the Arlington County.  The county has lanes and paths that are devoted to bike-riding.  Even buses and trains have built-in bike racks.  It is certainly a bike-friendly district.

Climate

The weather in Arlington is humid and hot during the summer season.  July is when the days are hottest.  The temperature during this month goes up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit.  However, mild weather can be expected for the rest of the year, specifically during spring and autumn.  December and January are the coldest months wherein the temperature goes down to 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Rain falls at three to four inches of precipitation every month.

Events

Arlington celebrates a lot of fun and colorful events annually.  One of the grandest happenings is the National Cherry Blossom Festival that takes place from the end of March until the beginning of April.  In this event, the blooming of over 3,000 cherry trees can be viewed.  Fireworks display, races, art exhibits and parades are also part of this festival. 

Another event celebrated in the county is the Smithsonian Kite Festival.  This comprises of kite-making and kite-flying competitions.  The kites that are featured are traditional Chinese kites.  This one-day event is done during the last Saturday of March.  Historic Garden Week is an event during the month of April wherein homes, gardens and historic landmarks began open to the public for tours.

Attractions

Arlington Country has a great deal of sights and landmarks for everyone to behold.  One of its most revered landmarks is the Pentagon City.  Some of the historical sites to visit are the Tomb of the Unknowns, Arlington House, World War II Memorial, and the Canadian Cross of Sacrifice.  Tourists can also check out Bluemont Park, Gravelly Point Park, and Upton Hill Regional Park.

Arlington is actually a name for several other cities found in other states in the US.  Texas, for one has its own Arlington City.  Comparably, the states of Texas and Virginia have different offerings when it comes to this city name.  It is so delightful to note that Virginia have upheld its own share of travel preferences while visiting their own Arlington.
