Saint George, UT US - Nightlife: Haven for Art Lovers
Saint George, UT has a large population of teetotalers. Hence, nightlife here is quiet and calm. The people of this place prefer to frequent art events after dusk rather than enjoy a drink. The bars here are not private clubs and you have to buy food for ordering a drink. Nevertheless, its nightlife is happening and it is very enjoyable.
Dixie State College’s Avenna Center
Saint George’s primary performing arts venue is the Dixie State College’s Avenna Center. This complex plays host for many performances like country shows, rock concerts, symphonies, ballet, opera and also many sports events. There is the performance by the Southwest Symphonic Chorale and Southwest Symphony, which is a treat for most music lovers. Admirably, this is the only full symphony orchestra in the region.
St. George Musical Theatre
Broadway musicals and plays are presented frequently from September to April by St. George Musical Theatre. There are free concerts by St. George Tabernacle on Fridays. The main street is alive on Thursday nights with the festival of entertainment called the Downtown Thursday Nights. This includes food, live music and artisans to entertain the locals.
Ice-cream Joints
Another love of the locals is yummy ice-cream. The Blue Bunny Ice Cream Parlor has an assortment of mouthwatering new flavors and combinations that would satiate anybody. The parlor showcases ice cream cone sculptures and strobe lights. The delicacies here include the Chocolaty Mighty Zion Sundae and the Key Lime Melt Down. Another popular ice-cream joint, Nielsen’s Frozen Custard, gives Blue Bunny a stiff competition.
Bars & Nightclubs
The city does have bars where local and regional bands play jazz. There are hotels with live bands almost every night. The front desk of your hotel would be able to give you information regarding the various entertainment programs in the city. The Owl Sports hosts a steel band twice a week and has a Karaoke session on Thursdays. The Club Karma is a semi-formal nightclub and can be frequented for good ambience and lot of fun. The Club Bananas and True Blue are informal night clubs. The night sizzles there. The Kudo’s Bar and Grill is apt for good food and a night out. Most of the clubs have a clientele that is a mixture of locals and tourists. The True Bay Resort and the L’Anse Aux Epines are night clubs that have hard dancing, good restaurant and bar.
