Iron County is part of Utah which is a state in the country of United States of America and Cedar City happens to be a city located in Iron County. Cedar City is situated somewhere in south eastern section of Great Basin and is around 32 kilometers from the edges of the huge Mojave Desert. Cedar City is around 400 kilometers away from the famous Salt Lake City. South Eastern Utah University is also located in Cedar City and this has increased the importance of the city immensely in last couple of years.
As per the census of year 2000 the population for Cedar City was around 21000 inhabitants that used to live in around 6500 houses. At that time there were around 92 percent Whites in Cedar City, around 2.5 percent African Americans, around 1 percent Native Americans, less than 0.5 percent people of Asian Descent, and rest from other different races. Around 4 percent of the total population is Hispanic too. The per capita income for the Cedar City as per the same census was around US $14000. Although the per capita income for Cedar City is fine but still over 20 percent of the total population in the city of Cedar City is below poverty line. Cedar City hasn’t experienced any huge jump in its population since year 2000. This can be proved from the census of year 2007 which says that the population for Cedar City was around 28000 inhabitants only.
Cedar City has been gifted with many highways which connect the city with neighboring cities. Some of the famous highways are Interstate 15 (which connects Cedar City to St. George, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, and to the famous Interstate 70 highway too) and state roads (this connects Cedar City to Panaca, Kanab, Nevada which is located in the proximity of US93, Utah, and the huge US 6 plus US 50 highways). As per a research done, Cedar City stretches over an area of around 52 square kilometers and not even a small section of this city is covered with water.
Cedar City has also been gifted with one railway line which connects it to the main railway line somewhere near Lund. Cedar City also has an International Airport which regularly operates flights for the convenience of tourists.
