Lake Casa Blanca International State Park Laredo. - 371 acres of lush green surrounds the 1656 acre huge lake. The latter is a popular destination for watching migratory birds, angling for largemouth bass fishes and also for wildlife watching. The park is equipped with a fishing pier, a boat ramp, camping and RV facilities and you can also go out for picnics on the grounds. It is a perfect destination for family entertainment outdoors in harmony with nature.
Lamar Bruni Vergara Environmental Science Center -The Laredo Community College campus grounds houses this science center. It is the perfect destination for learning more about the flora and fauna found in their natural habitat of Rio Grande Watershed. There are four outdoor ponds - the separate breeding grounds of 5 species of turtles, bass fish, catfish and a pair of American alligators. Apart from these there is also a separate wetland area featuring a pond. The latter is the breeding ground of young alligators. This place is one of the most fascinating sights of Laredo.
Fort McIntosh Laredo- Laredo also has a historic site in the form of this fort which was erected in 1848 in the mid Victorian period. Unlike other forts, this fort was fully functional till May 1946. The place has now been transformed into the Laredo Community College campus. The various departments of the college, the classrooms, the staffrooms etc are housed in the commissary, commander’s house, infirmary, living quarters, warehouse, chapel, the old guard house and other historic rooms of the fort. You can also opt for a guided tour of the fort.
San Augustin Church Laredo -This one was established in 1779 and happens to be the oldest church in Laredo and one of the oldest in the entire southwestern corner of the USA. The plaza that adjoins the fully operational church is the site of all the social, political and economic activities of this city.
Museums- Laredo has 3 museums to offer its visitors. You can take a look round Washington’s Birthday Celebration Museum Laredo, Laredo Children’s Museum and the Republic of the Rio Grande Museum Laredo.
Auditorium and Theatre Laredo has 2 theatres or auditoriums - Laredo Little Theater and Laredo Entertainment Center.
