Columbia is the capital city of Carolina which is more of a college town offering great nightlife for those looking for some. If you are looking for a place to relocate, retire or to relax in, Columbia is the place. It not only has rowdy and loud joints, but great museums and art galleries you can visit for a quiet night on the town.
Nightlife in Columbia is mostly concentrated in the Five Points and Vista regions of Columbia. However there are also a few trendy cocktail lounges found further inside of Columbia like Gervais & Vine, The Blue Martini and Delaney’s Speakeasy.
The Gervais & Vine is a great wine tavern and tapas bar of Columbia that offers a long list of tapas or snacks which if you order sufficient of them can lead to a full meal. While eating, you are served a minimum of five different wines.
Enjoy live music
There are numerous joints in Columbia that can provide you with live music like jazz and blues in Mac’s on Main, Celtic and acoustic music in Delaney’s Pub and rock music in Headliners. If you want everything from the spoken word to hypnotic beats of House Music, then you have to visit the Art Bar. It has a colorful bar with a varied clientele and a small dance floor.
Students frequent the Village Idiot, a place where you find cheap beer and food. The Whig is also a famous hangout place and if you are looking for a larger variety of bears, try the Flying Saucer, Hunter Gatherer and Liberty Taproom.
Gay bar and night entertainment in Columbia
The Capitol Club is the most sophisticated gay bar of South Carolina that is similar to the gentlemen’s clubs of London. Its interiors include leather sofas, unique pieces of art and a long bar. Food is not available here while no one usually dances here. This is a private club where it is better to make advance bookings.
If you are not interested in this form of nightlife, but are interested in arts, then Columbia has lots to offer you. With arts abounding in Columbia it proves to be difficult to make the right choice to spend your night in. There are musicals, ballets and theatrical performances performing practically every night in Columbia.
Besides all this, there are the numerous cinema theatres that to visit for a movie. The Nickelodeon Theater on Main Street boasts of showing over 125 films a year. So with so many activities to keep you occupied at night in Columbia, there is no scope of your ever feeling bored.
