Salem, OR US - Sights - Main Attraction of Salem!

No matter the purpose of your visit, there are many things to do as well as to see around the beautiful City of Salem. Whether it is a holiday trip or a business one, the unique and wonderful attractions in this city will definitely make your stay enjoyable. There are many historical attractions that define the history of this beautiful place. The beautiful gardens, the kid’s activity centre, museums and Wineries are the major sights of Salem.

Deepwood Historic Estate

The Deepwood historic estate is situated in the heart of downtown Salem, which was once a Victorian home of Queen Anne. This excellent museum is now activated by the companions of Deepwood, which is a non-profit-making association shaped to distribute information about the life in ancient times in the house. The Deepwood historic estate is also a good space to conduct outdoor games or to host wedding receptions or other such special events. This is the place where a person’s dream can be converted into precious evergreen memories. 

Antique Power Land Museum

This is a traditional art museum that features early agriculture, power and haulage apparatus. The museum is an antique power heritage sight organized by the Antique Association Company. It was actually built up to preserve, restore and demonstrate the ancient machineries and power equipments. The museum hall is made available for the visitor from the first week of March to the last week of October and five days a week from Wednesday to Sunday.  

Lighthouses

Lighthouses, irrespective of their location, are the main attractions and Salem includes a wide range of attractive lighthouses. The Cape Arago, Cape Blanco, Cape Mearers and Cape Perpetua are some of the important lighthouses in the city. The illuminated lighthouse during sunset gives a relaxing effect to the traveler’s eyes.

National Forests

The Deschutes National Forest rich in natural and human history is a main centre of attraction. This gives a great opportunity of recreation as well as great sceneries. Some other important national forests include the Fremont forest, Malheur forest, Mt. Hood forest, Ochoco forest and many more.

Recreation Areas and Parks

The Goose Lake area is the finest recreation spot with a lot of greenery and a great place for wildlife. The greenery makes it the best place to camp and do boating admittance. Another beautiful picnic area is Alder wood wayside that runs along the River Long Tom. This is a great place for fishing and picnicking.  

There are numerous Salem sights that attract the visitors in a large number every day. However, the main areas of attraction are the Vineyard, the museums and the national parks.
