Ulster County is one of the many counties which are part of New York. The town of Woodstock is part of this Ulster County and is located somewhere in the northern region.
The town of Woodstock became famous when a huge art festival was named after this town itself. Initially this festival was to be organized in the town of Woodstock itself but later on, it was organized some 75 kilometers away from this town and in the town of Bethel. The town of Woodstock has been the hub for art and craft related stuffs for last 10 decades and even the police vans of this town has a logo imprinted which says ‘Colony of Arts’. The town of Woodstock is also the center where the headquarters for WAAM (which stands for Woodstock Artists Association and Museum) is located.
As per the census of year 2000 the population for this town of Woodstock was around 6000 inhabitants. As per the same census, there were around 3000 houses in the town and around 1600 families living the town. 95 percent of this population was white, 1.5 percent black, 1.5 percent Asian, and rest comprises of some other races.
The town of Woodstock stretches over an area of around 176 kilometer square. Around 0.5% of this is full of water and the rest is land which is used by the inhabitants for living purposes. The altitude of this small town is over 500 feet above sea level. The city of Woodstock is located on the Catskill Mountains and you will be surprised to know that this town does not have a single traffic light. The shops of this town stretch over a couple of blocks of the town and mostly depend on the foreign tourists which regularly visit the town. The town has not yet been touched by air pollution and thus this becomes another reason why so many tourists regularly visit this town. The summer weekends are the peak time when the highest number of tourists will regularly visit this pollution free cum beautiful town.
