The city of Hialeah is part of Miami - Dade County which lies in Florida, United State of America. The name of the city Hialeah is said to be made up of two different words namely Haiyakpo (which means prairie) and hili (which means pretty). These two words contribute to make up the word Hialeah which finally means pretty prairie. The meaning of this term in English is Upland Prairie. As of now the city of Hialeah is situated upon a huge prairie which is located between Everglades and Biscayne Bay.
The city of Hialeah stretches over an area of around 51 kilometer square out of which around 50 kilometer square is land while the rest is water. The areas that surround the city of Hialeah are Miami Lakes from the northern side, the city of Miami from the south eastern side, Hialeah Gardens from the south western side, Miami - Dade County from the north western side, and Westview from the eastern side.
As per the census of year 2006 the population for the city of Hialeah was around 210000 inhabitants that used to live in around 70000 houses. In this huge population there were around 90 percent Whites, around 2.5 percent African American, 0.50 percent Asians, and rest from other races. Hispanic for any race were around 93 percent as per the same census. As per the same census the per capita income for the city of Hialeah was around US $ 12500. Although the per capita income for this city was considerably good yet at that time there were around 19 percent of the total inhabitants from this city who were under the poverty line. This number includes the 22 percent of the locals who were below the age of 18 years.
The city of Hialeah has all kinds of modern transport facilities and same was the reason why at one time people used to say that “All the possible ways lead to the city of Hialeah”. The city of Hialeah is linked to almost every thoroughfare which are linked to the city via Florida Turnpike, I - 75, the Palmetto, Amtrak, US 27, Tri - Rail, the stations of Metro Rail 3 that are located in the city, and the direct roads which connect the city of Hialeah to the always busy Miami International Airport.
