Bordered by Maryland and Virginia, Washington DC, US is formally a Columbian district and is capital of United States of America. It is situated on the northern banks of Potomac River and is a metropolitan area. This is a very well planned city that has been designed specifically for housing the US federal government and does not form a part of any of the states. The history, the immaculate architecture and the exquisite cultural centers are what that attract people from all across the globe to venture into and explore this wonderful place.

There are certain very amazing sights in Washington DC, US. Among the most popular ones is The National Mall which is an exclusive national park. It is filled with immense concentrations of monuments, museums, memorials and various famous monumental governmental buildings that can be recognized instantly by people from all over the world. Then there is The White House which is the Capitol US building, the Lincoln Memorial and reflecting pool, The Washington Monument, The Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, The Vietnam War Memorial, the National History Museum, the National Gallery of Art, the Air and Space Museum, the National Portrait Gallery and the International Spy Museum.
A great place of performing music and arts
Washington DC is a great place for the performing music and arts. The John F Kennedy Center for performing arts acts like a home for the Washington Ballet, Washington National Opera and National Symphony Orchestra. In fact, awards are honored by the Kennedy Center to all those who contribute immensely towards the performing arts. To add, there are certain local theatre traditions that operate independently in Washington. Great institutions like the Shakespeare Theater Company, Arena Stage and the Studio Theatre actually feature some of the classic works and some contemporary American plays.
Great recreational and entertainment facilities
Washington is a place where one can find amazing recreational and entertainment facilities. There are quite a lot of parks that offer great activities like biking and hiking. There are some downtown parks also that are always crowded with soccer, rugby, football, baseball, kickball and the Frisbee players. The Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens do make a worth visit here.
Many festivals like the National Kite Festival and National Cherry Blossom Festival are also held here along with a capitol Forth. These are great attractions for the tourists who come to Washington to enjoy their vacation with their family and friends.
