Eldora Travel Guide, Colorado
This resort is the hidden treasure of the Denver area. Charming, with a local flavor and low-key, Eldora sits at 9,200 feet and rising to 10,600 feet at the summit. Getting here is quite easy as it is only 3 miles from Nederland and just 21 miles west of Boulder being the closest skiing and riding to Denver.
The route offers a hassle free ride to the resort and you can enjoy the view on your way. When you get there you will easily find a parking place and what’s best is that parking at Eldora is free for the moment and it is quite pleasant to walk to the base lifts as there are few resorts in Colorado where you can do that. If you prefer the bus as a means of transport to the resort you can take the bus from Boulder and it has several departure times throughout the day.
Eldora is an exciting year-round resort with plenty of activities for all seasons, but it is the winter sports like skiing and snowboarding that are the main sports which attract people here. The resort is famous for having some of the best conditions anywhere in Colorado, being among the top of Front Range accessible resorts, the variety of its terrain of almost 700 acres, cross-country center, and terrain parks. Powder hounds choose to ski in Eldora for the experience this unique snow of 58" depth provides. You are more likely to find snow here than in the other Colorado resorts because snow storms find their way here. There are 53 trails suitable for al levels, but half of them are dedicated to intermediate skiers. Even in the rare cases when there are poor snow conditions, the sunny, blue sky makes the day complete. All these advantages make the fact that it lacks the size and variety of other Rocky Mountain ski areas seem unimportant.
Lots of things have improved throughout the years and now the newest addition is the beautiful Indian Peaks Lodge. It is both a winter and summer facility. In summer it is used for all-inclusive weddings and in winter it is Ski School, and Children’s Center.
Eldora is also known as being a family-friendly resort and people at Eldora have done everything to make it the ideal destination for families looking to create a winter tradition. You will have nice memories watching your child try skiing for the first time, or remembering your childhood attempt on the slopes.
