Adak Sights and Landmarks Guide, Alaska

Adak is a big Tertiary island in the central Aleutian Island consisting of a minor 40 cubic kilometer volcanic core at its northern edge. It is considered as the most regularly stopped at and experimented island in the region. While this island is not rich in nightlife options, you will surely find great ways to set your foot on the place because of the list of Adak Sights it offers.

Adak Sights – Natural Scenery

Mt. Adagdak. This tourist attraction is situated at the northeastern part of Adak Island. You can see its beautiful shape if the weather is fine.

Quonset Huts. This must see place when you are in Adak houses some of the remnants of World War II.

Totem Pole is a must visit place if you want to discover where the telephone line in Adak came from. The spot is located in front of the Navy exchange in Kuluk Bay.

Adak Chapel. You must also visit the chapel of Adak while you are there to appreciate its architectural design. The most remarkable thing you will notice in this historical and religious spot is its various stained glass windows surrounding the chapel. This is simply an intricately designed piece of art.

Adak Sights – Recreational Areas

If you want to explore Adak in a number of ways, there are recreational spots waiting for you. Hike, do some kayaking or watch movies, these are some of the options.

Recreation Center. This is the only place in Adak where you can find what you need. It houses a movie theater, a swimming pool, a gymnasium and various eating venues. You will also find the Tundra Tavern in this remarkable place.

Iditarod Trail. If you love hiking, try this trail located in Wasilla.

Matanuska River. If you want to experience kayaking in Adak, this is the place where you can go. Just like the Iditarod Trail, this one is located in Wasilla.
