Chiang Mai also called Kham Muang is a renowned tourist center located about 435 miles north of Bangkok in the banks of river Ping. A large number of tourists flock every year to this city that is located at the highest altitudes in the country of Thailand. The city is divided into four wards namely Nakhon Ping, Srivijaya, Mengrai, and Kavila. Located in a mountainous backdrop, Chiang Mai has more than three hundred Buddhist temples called as wat in Tai.
Chiang Mai offers unlimited variety of sightseeing opportunities and is an excellent base from where you could explore the lush tropical landscape. The historic ruins and the moat of Lannathai kingdom literally takes you to the glorious past of the city. The panoramic view from Doi Suithep and the ruins of Wiang Kum Kham excavation site is worth seeing. The city has much more to offer to visitors looking forward toward adventurous travel. Trekking and mountaineering could provide the tourist with an unforgettable experience. There are plenty of sightseeing attractions just outside the city within an hour’s drive.
Doi Inthanon is a wonderful national park and an exciting location to hang around. You will certainly enjoy the spectacular water falls in the mountain range.

The numerous other entertainment spots like discotheque, pubs, massage service centers, and theaters all over the city. Chiang Mai is a major centre for handicrafts, umbrellas, silver jewelry, and woodcarving, and you can find a plethora of shops that makes your shopping an entirely new experience.
Chiang Mai is a culturally rich city with numerous festivals especially during the month of December. However, the best time to visit the city is between October and April. The city offers accommodation to every kind of visitor with it wide range of hotels offering both star class and the economy class accommodation.
There are regular flights to Chiang Mai's airport from all major cities of Thailand. There are frequent bus services from Bangkok to Chiang Mai; however, it takes about 10-12 hours to reach the city. You can also utilize the railway service to reach Chiang Mai from different cities.
