Schaffhausen Sights and Landmarks Guide, Switzerland

Schaffhausen guests would stroll around town and they would realize that there are endless activities to do here. There are numerous historical structures to see or they could be active and engross themselves in a hiking adventure or they could also just take a quiet moment to delight in a lovely garden. This city is really captivating with several attractions attached to its name.

Historical Landmark

Locals and tourists alike could not help but be lured to The Munot Fortress. At its peak, people would be able to stumble upon some parties, open air movies, dance performances and other festive happenings. This edifice is called home by the Munotwächters and the clock rings without fail each night once the clock strikes 9 pm.

Religious Sites

There are several churches found in Schaffhausen. One such place of worship is St. Johann Parish Church. The structure itself has Gothic elements but its interiors are made up of various styles. The Monastery of St. George is another religious building, and it is an exceptionally beautiful one. This is among the well preserved ancient monasteries in the country and is a source of pride. The monastery was established during the Roman times and during the 15th up to the 16th centuries, there were considerable structural changes made to the building.

Museums and Galleries

Schaffhausen is also home to countless interesting museums. The Museum for All Saints   contains significant cultural and historical collection that records the city’s past. The Military Museum presents some historic personal equipment, a few ancient wind instruments, as well as several fascinating military vehicles. The Modern Art Gallery is a place dedicated to the contemporary arts and one would be able to find exhibits of art works done by celebrated international artists.

Natural Beauty

Schaffhausen boasts of natural wonders that could only be found here. Rhine Falls is where tourists yearn to go first because of the exquisite picture it makes. Its huge size is also an added attraction and the waters here certainly flow magnificently. The Höhenzug of Randen is another natural beauty that provides a little something for each guest. Visitors could take a soothing walk on nice trails over the hills, through the fields and woods or they could also take part in an exciting bike adventure. Another flawless beauty is The Klettgau, which is the site where fine grapes are cultivated and the wines produced in this area are truly superb.

This city is one brilliant gem but it could still be considered as partly concealed from rest of the world. Once word gets out and more people frequent the place, there would be no stopping others from discovering Schaffhausen’s beauty.
