There are many points of interest in Newcastle, South Africa. The historical sites of Newcastle include art museums, an old military fort turned into a modern museum, and an ancient Hindu temple. The art museum, Carnegie Art Gallery, displays the works of many of the most prominent South African artists. Fort Amiel Museum is the military fort built in the Victorian age, and is now remodeled as a museum of the time leading up to and during the Anglo-Boer War. There is a very unique Hindu temple in Newcastle, which has the distinction of having the largest dome of all Hindu temples in the southern hemisphere. The last item on your list of historical sites should be one of the various factory tours available in the area. Newcastle is a moderately developed area of South Africa, and the many factories in the city have a lot to boast.
As South Africa has developed as a more common vacationing spot, many casinos and spas have moved in. The largest casino-spa in the city is the Century, a hotel of luxurious proportions. The wonderful entertainment provided by the casino and spa may not take up all of your time in South Africa, but it is always nice to have a day or two of total relaxation while you are on your vacation.
Club Espace is one of the local night hotspots in Newcastle. This club brings in new musicians every night of the week, playing all different styles of music. If you are looking for a night out in town, this club will give you the chance to mix with the locals and dance the night away. Plus, it will give you a chance to hear some of the regions music, which is much different from anywhere else in the world.
No matter what you want to do while you are in Newcastle, there are plenty of ways to split up your time.
