Yekaterinburg Nightlife, Russia
Russia’s third largest city, Yekaterinburg, is situated at the base of the Ural slopes, 880 miles east from Moscow. Although it is known as an industrial city, it is estimated that Yekaterinburg has about 500 monuments and historical landmarks to show, not to mention the numerous pubs, restaurants, nightclubs and cultural institutions.

Attending a theater, opera or dance representation is a definitely a must for anyone visiting the “Capital of Urals”. Masterpieces of Russian drama can be enjoyed in the luxurious building of the Opera House, Yekaterinburg’s historic theatre. But there are plenty of other options to choose from: Sverdlovsk Academic Theater of Musical Comedy, Volkhonka, Yekaterinburg Academic Dramatic Theater, or Yekaterinburg Theater for Young Spectators. Several world-renowned contemporary dance companies are based in Yekaterinburg: Kipling, Provincial Dances, Tantstrest. An evening at the cinema can always be a source of fun and a good way to get in the right mood in order to adventure into Yekaterinburg’ s nightlife. Yekaterinburg cinemas include: Premier-Zal, Kosmos, Kino Kilizey, Multiplex Salut and Kinoplex.
Yekaterinburg Nightlife – Restaurants
As Yekaterinburg makes the transition between the European and the Asian part of Russian Federation, its local cuisine reflects the mix of cultures. Here, the Russian soups (like borscht or shchi), stews and stuffed dumplings can be accompanied by the traditional kvas and vodka. Some of the restaurants that serve traditional food are: Dacha, Hitrovka, Podkova, USSR or the Bear’s Pad. Yet, Hungarian (Happy Magyar), Italian (Fellini, Dolce Vita), European (Troekurov, Hans, Port Stanley), Japanese (Planeta Sushi), Arabic (Khalif) coexist here in a seducing harmony of tastes.

Considering the number of students registered in Yekaterinburg’s numerous universities and technical schools, Yekaterinburg nightlife is far from boring, so going out will most probably prove to be an inspired decision. Rock lovers will find their second home here, as Yekaterinburg rock scene is famous all over Russia. Sphinx, Base, Tele-Club are some of the most popular music clubs. The Irish/English pub is also well-represented in Yekaterinburg: Old Dublin Pub, Gordon’s, Rosy Jane. For good-humored natures who want to meet some locals and play social games, like pool or bowling, Vodoley or Antey may be the best options. Families can have their part of fun in places like Luna 2000 or the children’s park Seventh Kingdom. For the brave ones who want to measure their talent at dancing with the Russian youth, Yekaterinburg has a wide range of dance clubs: Zebra, Club RA, Golden Scorpio, No Strangers Here, Snow or Galactica. You might not find the crazy crowds from Moscow (see Moscow Nightlife for guidance) in the Yekaterinburg clubs, but fun is something you’ll get for sure.
