Hunedoara is the capital city of the Hunedoara County, located on Cerna Valley 87 miles from Satu Mare and 89 miles from Arad.

The beautiful city of Hunedoara is located in the centre of the county with the same name at an average altitude of 220m. The city is surrounded by a hilly and mountainous area which offers gorgeous landscapes to its visitors. The local climate is temperate continental with an annual average temperature of 9, 6ºC and about 530 mm precipitations.
The city is crossed by the Cerna River, an important Romanian river coming from the mountains and flowing into the Mures River.

The local fauna and flora is strongly influenced by the economic activity within the city, but there are still numerous areas where it remained unchanged. The flora is characterized by the presence of several species like the oaks, beech and locust tree mainly on the hilly side and numerous poplars and willows on the river banks.
Indigene fauna is represented by species of squirrel, foxes, partridge and numerous sheat fish, barbell, carp and pickerels. There is also a zoo in town, so one can visit it and admire besides the local species also diverse exotic ones.

The main activities within the city are related to industry, so over 65% is represented by ferrous metallurgy and related activities. The city is set along DJ 687 road making the connection with the European road E68 which crosses the country from Arad to Bucharest. Hunedoara has an adequate infrastructure for a city of its size with modern roads, railroads and reliable public transport. In our way to Sibiu we remembered that Hunedoara is well-known because it has a castle built in the 13th century so we decided to stop in this city and search for the castle. You have to know that in Romania to find anything famous is a true adventure... it's harder to find a popular sight than...
