Aguadilla founded in 1775 by Luis de Cordova is a stunning city situated in the north western peak of Puerto Rico. It is also bordered by the Atlantic Ocean in the west of Isabel and north of Moca and Aguada. Aguadilla is divided in more than 15 wards and is the main city of Aguadilla Isabela San Sebastian Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Aguadilla Places of interests and Landmarks
Aguadilla is a division of Porta Del Sol, since the west coast is presently publicized via the Tourism Company of Puerto Rico. The local sightseeing has been enormously boasted through the foundation of water park Las Cascadas and the only skating complex of the Caribbean, the Aguadilla Ice Skating Arena.
Aguadilla is mainly popular for its excellent surfing beaches. Some of the popular beaches are Crash Boat Beach, La Ponderosa Beach, La Poza Beach, La Saldinera Beach, Surfer's Beach and the Wilderness Beach (Las Ruinas). The beaches in Aguadilla host different professional and amateur surfing events all through the year in which loads of people take part. It has also organized various championships including the ISA championship in 1968 as well as 1988. The famous surfing sites in Aguadilla are Table Tops, Surfer’s Beach, Las Ruinas, Survival and Gas Chamber.
Aguadilla Festivals
The city also boasts some of the most colorful and vibrant festival in which both local residents as well as tourists partake. Few of the major cultural festivals include Velorio de Reyes, Festival de la Chiringa, Fiestas San Antonio, Verbena de Corrales, Festival Playero, Festival del Atún, Festival de la Música and the Fiestas Patronales San Carlos.

The divas of Aguadilla from the superior volleyball team play their house games in Luis T. Diaz Coliseum in downtown Aguadilla.
Education
Aguadilla boasts sixteen elementary schools, three high schools and five middle schools. Most of them are owne by the education department of Puerto Rico. It further houses the Head Start program for Aguada, Moca, Aguadilla, San Sebastian and Rincon in addition to various private educational institutions.
Aguadilla Transportation
The city main airstrip is the Rafael Hernandez International Airport. It links to some of the major highways through its PR 2. An expansion to the current Puerto Rico highway number 22 from Hatillo up to Puerto Rico Highway number 11 will soon be made.
