Lima Sights and Landmarks Guide, Peru

Lima is amongst the top ten metropolis of this planet, the largest city of Peru, and its capital. Lima is also the most important city of Peru with one third of its total population living in the metropolitan area of Peru. Total area over which Lima expands is about 2700 kilometer square of which 31 % is actual city while rest 69 % is the outskirts of Lima. Lima has become an important tourist hot spot in Peru in last couple of decades due to the expansion of Lima on the international front. Tourism industry is one of the major industries which affect the economical growth of Lima

Ancón is the happening beach resort of Lima. Every summer hundreds or even thousands of tourists and locals from Lima visit Ancón. It was officially established somewhere in 1874 and slowly gained importance amongst tourists. By now it is one of the most famous beach resorts of the city.

Another famous beach resort is Aguadulce which is originally a municipality of Seville. Spread over an area of around 14 kilometer square, Aguadulce is very famous amongst tourists who visit Lima for some time out from their hectic lives. Some more beach houses of Lima are Cerro Azul, Punta Hermosa, Los Pavos, and Barranquito.

Las Cascadas is the famous water park of Lima and it happens to be the largest water park in the complete Caribbean area. It was started in 1985 and during those days it was one-of-its-kinds but slowly many others with similar facilities opened to cash on the tourist business of Lima.

Larco museum is one of the oldest museums of the region and it is documented to be built over a pyramid of pre - Columbia era. The museum was launched somewhere in 18th century in the same pyramid. This museum is famous for the 4000 year old history which it houses in its building.

Some more famous museums of Lima are: Museum of the Nation, Presbítero Maestro, Miguel Grau House-Museum, Lima Wall Museum, Morro de Arica soldiers Museum, Ricardo Palma House-Museum, Arts & Peruvian Popular Traditions Museum, Japanese Immigration Museum etc.

Some other tourist spots in Lima are various shopping centers, colonial buildings, amusement parks, islands, and various zoos.
