Hyderabad, Pakistan - Overview
Hyderabad is located in the province of Sindh, Pakistan. The city of Hyderabad was founded in 1768. It is second largest city after Karachi in the province of Sindh. Hyderabad has long history, culture and traditions. Hyderabad has glorious past and it has been the birthplace of many notable poets and popular people. Hyderabad is rich in culture and traditions.
There are many buildings of historical and cultural importance. Hyderabad has also been served as a military base in the British rule. In 1857, British army put most of their ammunition in this city.
Economically, the city of Hyderabad has been the center of agriculture, fertilizer, handicrafts, paper, glasses, pottery, textile, cement, plastic and hosiery industries. It has also been the largest producer of bangles in the world. The rice, wheat, cotton and fruit of Hyderabad are famous throughout Pakistan. Ethnically, the city is divided into the five major regions.
Sindhi and Muhajirs are two major ethnic groups in this city. Geographically, Hyderabad is divided into different regions and each region is administered by a councilor and Nazim. The head of the Nazims is called district Nazim. Hyderabad has extreme temperature and in summer the temperature reaches up to 45 Celsius.
Hyderabad is home to many popular educational institutes like The University of Sindh, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Sindh Agricultural University, Isra University and the University of East.
The city of Hyderabad has great attraction for the tourists from all over the world. Some of the most popular sights are attractions in Hyderabad include Sindh Museum, The Pacco Qillo, Amri (Pre-Harapp), Rani Bagh, Al-manzar, Institute of Sindhology Museum, New Hyderabad City, Cubbas, Kachha Qila. Some of the popular restaurants in Hyderabad include Al-manzar, Sabzazar and Hyderabad Hotel etc.
Cricket, Football and Hockey has been the major sports of the city. Hyderabad has a popular cricket stadium called the Niaz Stadium. A number of domestic cricket matches are organized here throughout the year.
Hyderabad is also home to many popular religious places including mosques, churches and mandirs. There are five churches and a cathedral in Hyderabad.
The city of Hyderabad is served by a number of transportation options including Road, Air and railway. There is a moderately good airport in the city, which is served by the local flights from different cities of Pakistan.
Hyderabad is served as a great tourism point for tourists from all over the world.
