Maputo, Travel Guide – Means of Transportation
Just like any important city in a country, Maputo has Maputo International Airport, located a few kilometers away from the heart of the capital. Once arrived downtown, you will most certainly come across the main means of transportation in town, called chapa, which looks like a minibus, taking you to every part of the city. These small buses are said to have been imported from Japan, being a Toyota car. The taxies are quite cheap and you cannot possibly miss the orange one, called Laranjihna- Little Orange. When you get there, you will understand what I am talking about, as this funny car looks like a half orange, carrying no more than 3 people. It will charge you 8$ per kilometer and it will show you a big part of this amazing capital. Any Maputo Travel Guide will also recommend you not to rent a car, as it is quite dangerous to drive on the roads.
