The city of Tawau is located in the province of Sabah, in the southern part of Malaysia. The city is home to almost 400,000 Tawauians (mainly Chinese and Malay) and is one of the largest cities in all Malaysia.
Tawau is also a major trading center of southern Malaysia and their main export is rubber. Now, for the sights of this bustling city, the town has a major airport, plenty of sprawling hotels, great restaurants and other places of interest.
When you arrive at the Tawau International Airport, you can either take an express coach to the city (about 1-15km away) or get to the city by taxi.
Once in Tawau, you can stay in one of its many hotels. One of these hotels is called the Belmont Marco Polo Hotel. The hotel offers rooms to its guest from $120-$180 per night. Another good hotel to stay in is the Kingston Hotel, which offer rates around $90-$10 a night.
Now, if you are looking to get some grub, there are plenty of places in Tawau to get it. Places like McDonalds, KFC and Pizza Hut is the place to get some fast food (not healthy as well.) However, if you are looking for try some of the local cuisines available, there is the Sabah Chicken Rice place, Ocean Seafood Restaurant, Maxim’s Seafood Restaurant, and seafood stalls where you can sit outside and eat.
Now, for the sights of Tawau City, there is the local zoo, the local cinema theatre, the Shan Shui Golf Club, the basketball stadium, and the city’s sports complex. For the young adventurers to Tawau, there are the nearby Bukit Gelas Waterfalls.
The local cinema is another popular hangout spot for young people. Here, you will see movies - local and foreign - that have subtitles in Malay, Chinese, Hindi, and other languages.
The local golf courses are a fun place for you to play a round or two of golf and mingle with the locals. The nice palm trees that encompass the golf courses, make it seem like you are in paradise.
In addition, Tawau has plenty of shopping malls and markets for you to choose from. Here, you can poke around and buy items that are appealing to you and bargain with the market vendors for the lowest prices possible.
In short, Tawau is a lovely place to come to if you want to see all its wonders.
