When tourists go to Kota Bharu, they end up staying longer than they had previously planned. In Kota Bharu you will find some museums close to Padang Medeka which means Independence Square. The museums are open every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. but are closed on Fridays. If goto Bank Kerapu which is the War Memorial Museum, you will find a lot of collections from the Japanese photographic memorabilia along with documents that are relating to World War II. These date back to as early as 1912 and this Museum occupies one of the oldest brick buildings to be found in Kelantan.

Next, you have the Syura Hall, which is the Islamic Museum. This museum looks a lot like a mosque and is located across the road from Bank Kerapu. In this museum, you will be able to find artifacts along with inscriptions that document just how important is Islam in the everyday life. This building was known as Serambi Mekah.

The next museum you will find is called Istana Jahar which means Royal Custom Museum. The building was built in 1887 by Sultan Muhamad II and it appears to be a wooden structure that is really beautiful. We believe this museum is worth visiting.
