Jerusalem Nightlife, Israel
Enjoying Jerusalem’s Nightlife
Yerushalayim, or popularly known as Jerusalem, is the capital of Israel and lies in Judean Mountains between the northern end of the Dead Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. Modern day Yerushalayim has developed on the outskirts of the Old City. Jerusalem is one of the oldest city in the world whose history dates back to the fourth millennium BC. Jerusalem is the holiest city of Judaism since the 10th century BC and the third holiest city of Muslims.
Nightlife of Jerusalem
People of Jerusalem are night owls who are very serious about their nightlife activities. Once in Jerusalem try the pubs and bars that remain open until the wee hours of the morning. It is a melting pot of all the cultures of the world where you can enjoy the South American salsa, Spanish tapas, Scottish whiskies and Irish beer or the Israeli folkdance or listen to the Arabic poetry. You should certainly go for a play at the Jerusalem theatre for a sedate evening.
The Artistic Jerusalem
Jerusalem is famous worldwide for its high quality musicians, and the recent coming of Russian immigrants has broadened the musical circle. For those who love classical music, they will discover amazing artists performing in every nook and corner from pedestrian malls and street corners to clubs and concert halls. The Israel Museum is famous for hosting programs on dance, music film performances and theater. The Bible Museum on Saturday evenings hosts a series on jazz, folk and classical music and cheese and wine is given before every performance. One must watch the English Theatre productions that are listed in the Friday edition of Ha’aretz newspaper and Jerusalem Post; the actors are mainly English-speaking immigrants.
To know about the happenings of the town one should read the Friday edition of Jerusalem Post or the monthly magazine of Calendar of Events, which one can get free at the Tourist Information Offices.
People of Jerusalem are not that much into alcohol drinking, they prefer evenings at cafes over snacks, wine or meal. Saturday nights are nights for the teenagers. You should also try the warm Rivlin Street and the exotic Salomon Street Mall that forms the heart of the pub and café culture of West Jerusalem.
The Cavelike bar at American Colony, in East Jerusalem is one that offers lip smacking food. One can also try the Courtyard Café and Bar for the best drinks.
The night remains incomplete without the ultimate climax, a perfect dinner: a combo of fries and grilled meat just before hitting the bed. It is a Yerushalayim tradition.
