The city of Ahvaz (also spelled as Ahwaz) happens to be the capital city for the Province of Khūzestān which is part of Iran. The country of Iran is divided into 30 provinces and the Province of Khūzestān is one amongst those 30 provinces. The city of Ahvaz is located right in the center of Khūzestān Province and the River Karun flows nearby this beautiful city.

The city of Ahvaz experiences hot summers which extend for many months. On the other hand winters are short and not very cold. On the other hand the minimum temperature ever recorded in the city of Ahvaz was around 2 degree Celsius which might let you feel that winters could be very cold but you must remember that the time span for winter season is very low. The city of Ahvaz is situated around 120 kilometers away from the city of Abadan and is connected via many modern highways which makes this journey quite easy. Some of the famous highways that pass through the city of Ahvaz are Tehran - Khorramshahr national highway, Ahvaz - Andimeshk Highway (which is around 152 kilometer long), Ahvaz - Abadan Highway (which is around 145 kilometer long), and lastly the very famous Ahvaz - Bandar - e Emam Khomeyni Highway (which is around 175 kilometer long).

A new generation metro rail system is also being constructed in the city of Ahvaz. This metro rail system will be around 23 kilometers in length and will have 24 stations. Most of the railway lines for this metro rail system will be laid underground. The city of Ahvaz also has an airport which connects this city to other major cities of the country.
