Although Surat might have lost its Port business but it still garners its rich culture and heritage. The old city of Surat is famous for its uniquely designed monuments and latest buildings plus the narrow streets.

Dutch Garden of Surat is one of the most famous tourist spots in the city. The Dutch Garden along with Makaipul, and the Dutch Cemetery are famous for its ancient heritage.
Muhammad Tughlak built the Old Fort of Surat somewhere in the 14th century to mark its presence in the city. This ancient Fort is now being used by the government as the office for municipal work.
Chintamani Jain Temple is another famous tourist spot and major place for Jain pilgrims. The major reasons why this temple is famous amongst the tourists are its historical paintings and unique wooden carvings. This temple was built in the early years of 15th century. Some very rare paintings of King Kumarapal, Solanki King, and Acharya Hemchandra are part of the painting collection of this temple. Any visit to Surat without visiting this temple will mean an incomplete visit of the diamond city.
Dumas is a famous health resort which is situated around 16 kilometer from Surat.
Another famous health resort of similar type is Hajira which is located around 28 kilometer from the center of the city. Hajira is famous for its water which is rich in sulphur and iron. This water is found in two major wells of Hajira. The green atmosphere around the resorts make them a must visit place for those who want to take some rest and want to run away from the fast city life.
